How to study at home
With more people at home thanks to the some virus or something, I thought it might be a good idea to share six tips with you on how to study in comfort.
Prepare in advance
Schedule your study time as much as you can and in a detailed way. Some people may plan each day over the course of a week or two but I would suggest planning the night before. Write down three or four subjects that you want to cover tomorrow and tick them off as you complete them.
Make yourself accountable
Set a time and day each week where you talk with a friend or teacher about your studies and how you are doing. Talk openly and honestly about any issues that you have where hopefully they can help.
Set up a work zone
Try and keep your study area separate from your living space. In a cramped environment it is not always possible but even if you put a screen between your bed and your desk that can help.
Try and avoid studying in bed or while sat on the sofa as your brain might find it hard to shut off your work thoughts when you need to rest.
Search online
There are a lot of exercises available online that you can use to check your progress. Take advantage of them to make sure that you are on the right track.
Over communicate
Set long-term goals for your studies and write them down. Place them in a prominent place where you are able to see them every day. Share them with your teacher or friends so they can check in with you.
Be flexible
Learn to adapt your study time and don’t pay too much attention to how other people study. A friend of yours might be able to sit for three hours but that might not suit you. Be flexible and find your pace.
